Boba Broth's TADC Pop-up

Inside The Cafe

boba & broth holds another pop-up event hosted by nikki of TheLuckyBot. you'd think spending the weekend in a room full of psychotic rabbits would be the last thing you'd want to do in the heat of june, but turns out if you offer them a pomni-flavored lemonade they're pacified for at least an hour.

when you walk into the restaurant you are greeted with the joyful, warm faces of the circus's cast sipping on boba, broth, or something inbetween.

as guesting artists/fans we pitched in with decorative cutouts of our personal favorite characters to join you at the tables. some of them even photobombed at the photo-op. you'd be able to see pomni, jax, caine, ragatha, and ribbit throughout the entire weekend in either their regular circus attire or cafe-themed uniforms.

the menu features pomni's blue curacao lemonade mango pop, ragatha's lavender lemonade, jax's taro milk tea strawberry pop, zooble's peach rainbow jelly green tea, gangle's strawberry lychee jelly milk tea, and kinger's hong kong boba milk tea.

did you know this was nikki's first time hosting a pop-up? wow.

from behind the table

there were a few items on the agenda for saturday. there was a trivia contest for 2pm at the very back of the building next to the crafts table.

i wasn't able to see the results of it on account of being situated in the direct front, which is probably a good thing because i would've wiped the floor and taken home title "wizard of all things amazing and digital". but being the doorkeeper isn't so bad either.

i think maybe over half of the event were cosplayers. the first to break ice that morning was noir ragatha. followed by a herd of ragathas. we saw a lot of ragathas this weekend. i'm guessing they heard about the cosplay contest for 3pm and wanted to win the charming kiss of cardboard pomni, but zooble actually won (who wasn't too keen on cardboard pomni's proposal).

speaking of pomni, i've never seen healthier support at an event. the zines and jaxpom charms i put out sold out entirely by saturday and we've reached the fund milestone for the acrylic servant pomni standee.

place was packed and lively all thanks to the wonderful snacks + drinks concocted by sweetpunch.htx and boba.brothtx. someone gave me a jax cookie; her sugar icing is sweeter than her attitude.

the very end

i left sticky notes and a pen for people to draw on, that way even if they weren't interested in anything i had to offer i could at least see who stopped by.

as we held the event a few weeks after the theater + official ep9 youtube release, i'd be lying if i said i wasn't curious about its reception fresh off the teeth. survey says that offline fans enjoyed the last episode, and at worst people had mixed feelings.

my table was full of sticky notes depicting post-transition jax, from one corner to the other... it made me really happy! someone even called me a fortune teller lol.

i was the last to pack my table. honestly i didn't want the day to end. this was probably one of the best events i've ever got to vend at or even go to by far, especially because its themed around a story i really care about and could talk all day about.
